The Varkari Yatra
In Marathi, “Varkari” means traveler devotees. “Specifically. It unites those who undertake the annual journey to the holy town of Pandharpur.” “Every year, millions of followers go on a spiritual journey on foot. This journey is called Vari (Yatra).” The Warkaris travel to the holy town of Pandharpur. The journey happens twice a year.” It occurs during the Hindu months of Aashaadha (July) and Kartik (November). The journey occurs on Ekadashi, the 11th day of the lunar month. “This teerth yatra shows their strong dedication.” It reflects their commitment to the Bhakti Marga, which is the path of devotion.
